A well kept lawn is a beautiful thing, but what started as a status symbol has become the default green space.
The white hand of colonialism has been responsible for this roll out across the globe and lawns are now forced into landscapes and maintained at great expense -financially and ecologically.
Here in the UK there is a biodiversity crisis and insect populations are struggling.
Does every inch of your lawn get used? Or could some of it be used for native wildflowers, left long, be planted with trees?

Cotton flannel offcuts
Naturally dyed cotton and linen
Cotton offcut batting
Thrifted Cotton

Machine pieced base, hand appliqued.
Chain stitch embroidered lettering
Hand quilted and bound.

Care:
Best displayed out of direct sunlight as fabric may fade.
